Your family earthquake plan

One page that answers the questions that matter when shaking stops — who, where, and how you'll reach each other. It saves to this device; print a copy for the fridge and the go-bag.

Private to this device. Nothing is uploaded — your plan is saved only in this browser. Use Print to keep a paper copy.

Plan completeness

Household members

Everyone in the house — children, elderly, and anyone who needs help. Blood group and regular medicines matter to rescuers and doctors.

Meeting points

Where your family will gather after shaking stops — agree on all three now.

How we stay in touch

Out-of-area contact

One person (ideally in another town) everyone calls or texts to relay that they're safe — local lines are often jammed.

  • SMS first, calls last — texts get through jammed networks; keep any call under 10 seconds.
  • Everyone texts the out-of-area contact: “SAFE + where you are”.
  • Save 100 (police), 102 (ambulance) and 1149 (NEOC) in every phone.
  • Keep phones above half charge; a power bank lives in the go-bag.

Emergency contacts (ICE)

Family, neighbours, doctor. Save these in your phone too, starting with “ICE”.

Who does what

Assign jobs for the first minutes — grab the go-bag, get the children (who picks up from which school?), shut off gas/electricity, help elderly neighbours.

Home & utility shut-offs

Write where each switch and valve is. Everyone old enough should practise finding them — after a big quake you may have no light.

Nearby safety points

Find these on the live map and your district page; full contact lists are in Emergency Resources.

Special needs & pets

Babies, elderly, disability, chronic illness, pets — plan for them now: spare glasses, walking stick, baby formula, leash and carrier, three days of their food.

Documents & valuables

Photograph these on your phone and keep photocopies in the go-bag — plus one set with your out-of-area contact.

  • Citizenship cards / passports · birth certificates
  • Land & house papers (lalpurja) · insurance policy numbers
  • Bank account details · a recent photo of each family member
  • List of everyone's medicines with doses

Emergency kit

Tick what you already have. Refresh water, food and batteries every 6 months.

⚠ It's been over 6 months — check your water, food, batteries and medicines.

Practise it: run a 60-second family drill twice a year, and note the refresh date here.
