EQ Sentry is a public-safety service by Prashant Acharya (prashantacharya.com). This policy explains what we collect when you sign up for earthquake alerts, why, and the choices you have. We only collect what we need to alert you — nothing more.

What we collect

When you register for alerts we collect the details you enter: your name, mobile number and/or email, your district, your preferred language, and the magnitude threshold you choose. If you don't register, we don't collect personal details — the map and guidance work without an account.

How we use it

Your details are used for one purpose: to send you earthquake alerts that match your district and threshold. We use your district only to estimate your location for relevance. We do not use your information for advertising.

Consent

We process your details on the basis of your consent, which you give by ticking the consent box and confirming via the link we send (double opt-in). You can withdraw consent at any time using the one-click unsubscribe link in every message.

Who we share it with

To deliver messages we pass your contact detail and the alert text to our delivery providers — an SMS gateway (e.g. Sparrow SMS in Nepal) and/or an email provider. They process it only to deliver the message. We never sell your information or share it for marketing.

How long we keep it

We keep your subscription until you unsubscribe, after which your record is deleted. Short technical logs used to avoid sending you duplicate alerts are removed automatically after about 30 days.

Your choices

You can unsubscribe instantly from any alert, and you can ask us to access, correct or delete your details by emailing us. We'll act on your request promptly.

Security

We store the minimum necessary, restrict access, and use encrypted connections (HTTPS). No online service can promise perfect security, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.
